Knight Ret and the Catgon: Concept

Knight Ret and the Catgon: Initial Concept

This is a simple yet heroic tale of a Rat who is an outcast knight who seeks the evil creature Catgon, who held his kingdom's beloved Princess Elephia captive when there is no hope in sight. It is all for his beloved princess...

This entire concept is actually made into a production bible for my story boarding module. Although... honestly to say, i did not learn much except for just producing storyboard with stories. (very little about compositions and all, which makes me glad that at this last year, i got Han Bacher's Illustration for designers to understand more about good compositions and story boarding. )

I learn a lot doing this at that time, and it is something new at that point of my year. After showing Hans this bible, with him pointing out the good and the bad (mostly *laugh*) of my designs and compositions, there is still much to understand in visual development and even character designing and development, but still, this production bible is a stepping stone from that time to go in the direction of the visual development + storyboarding. Makes me fall in love with storytelling again. :)

But as what Hans say, before you even go to storyboards, one should settle the styles and designs in Pre-production. If not the whole process is useless.

At 5 years from now, when i look back to the earlier posts, i want to be able to say "Hey, i have improved and will grow even more as an artist."

Well, i will be showing some of the initial concepts. Here goes:

Knight Ret

Princess Elephia

Well, Elephia took a longer time to design, especially since i fixed Ret's look first. Hans says the final look is still bland in silhouette and style, but i learn from it TT and to push silhouettes and shapes in my future designs.

Catgon

Mouse King and Queen

After doing the production bible, i understand I definitely need to learn how to draw many things (animals, environments, clothings, props etc.) Next up Location concepts.

Sophie: Rough Game concept

Sophie: Rough Game concept

This one is done for Narrative for new media in Year 2, to create a game concept and game flows. The concept i come out with is about a woman named Sophie who finds herself waking up in a strange mystical maze like world, with only her name as her possession. The game is of her seeking her exit out from this strange world and also finding her identity that she has lost through the meeting of women in the fairy tales. Snow White, Cinderella, the wives of Bluebeard etc that held the keys to escape this hellish world she is in. It's is to be a first person shooter like game.

It is rather interesting to do a game from the bottom up, considering the story and also the gameplay and the gameflow. Perhaps one day, i shall try making a game using the RPG maker or the Visual Novel maker *thoughtful*
Well, these are the concepts done:

Boss: the Veiled Lady (that haunts and attacks Sophie at the second arc of game)

Ticking to the End

Just 2 more months.

2 more months to end my Final Year Project and graduate. *wave hands in air*
Time surely has flies... so much so that it is rather disconcerting.

I will be posting some of the things i have done during my course here :)
And let this blog will serve as a reminder and a keepsake of this period of my life and the things i have done. Plus, as a stepping stone to grow as a better artist.

Also, being in Han Bacher's Illustration for designers, I want to improve in compositions and understanding colors better. I will post some of the exercises I did in the midst of all the chaos I'm experiencing here. No matter how little or how rough it is.

And now, to posting!~
